Thermal Efficiency

Roofing made from COLORBOND® steel is a lightweight roofing material.
This delivers not only construction advantages but thermal efficiency benefits.
In the case of COLORBOND® steel, light weight equates to low thermal mass, which means it cools down quickly when not in direct sunlight.
Insulated roofing panels made from COLORBOND® steel, in particular, provide very good thermal performance. Their insulating core provides excellent R values.
The Building Code of Australia (BCA) has classified roof colours into light and dark on the basis of their solar absorbance. See the table below for more information.
