Architectural Panels

Architectural panels made from COLORBOND® steel give designers even greater scope to come up with a building that is uniquely beautiful, yet still delivers value and performance for the client.

What's an architectural panel?

Architectural panels typically comprise two sheets of COLORBOND® steel adhered to an inner foam core. The core can be either expanded polystyrene or polyurethane, depending on the application or the design requirement.

Panel thicknesses vary from 50mm up to 200mm.

Thermal performance

The overall thermal performance of architectural panels made from COLORBOND® steel is determined by the thickness of the insulation material sandwiched between the two sheets.

The thicker the core, the greater the insulation properties.

Specialist joining systems (proprietary to the manufacturers of architectural panels) provide a strong, completely weathertight joint, with some configurations virtually eliminating temperature exchange through the interlocking joint.

The panels can work as a three in one roof, providing a ceiling, a weatherproof outer skin, plus highly effective insulation.

This, in turn, can help reduce energy costs for heating and cooling.
