The process is simple and fast – and in most cases, documents are ready for printing in just a few minutes. Home Owners
The new warranty system provides the opportunity for Specifiers, Builder or Installers to provide you with a pre-approved warranty. If you have been given a Pre-Approved warranty notification, you simply create an account in the system and activate your warranty with your unique activation code. Alternatively, you can enter the details of your project in the simple step by step process, creating the warranty yourself. Note the warranty must be generated after the installation is complete. See our guide of what information is needed to create your own warranty.
Specifier, Builders & Installers
The new warranty system provides the opportunity for you to generate a pre-approved warranty for your customers. Creating a specifier account allows you to generate a pre-approved warranty up to 18 months before a project will be complete. The system generates a notification that you can pass onto your customer with their activation code. They simply confirm the project details to obtain their final warranty certificate. Government / Project Managers
For Government or large building projects often the final owner is difficult to identify. Project Manager, the School Principal, In these cases we recommend that the job description, or role title be used for “owner” description in the pre-approved warranty.
Once the pre-approved warranty has been created and handed over at the completion of the build. The nominated representative (the “owner”) simply creates an account in the system and activates the warranty with their unique activation code. Product Performance Warranties
In addition to BlueScope Steel’s material warranties, some of the manufacturers that transform our material into the end-use products in and around your home also offer product performance warranties, to provide you with assurance that their products will perform as expected when installed. BlueScope Steel recommend that you talk to your supplier about the details of any performance warranties they may offer.

- For roofs installed prior to 04/08/2008 warranties covered up to 30 years against corrosion to perforation, and up to 12 years against paint flake & peel (ie delamination). For these installations please view our page: Warranties for Installations Prior to 04/08/2008.
- For roofs installed subsequent to 04/08/2008, warranties cover up to 30 years against corrosion to perforation, and up to 20 years against paint flake & peel (ie delamination).
Roofing made from COLORBOND® steel
For COLORBOND® steel, BlueScope Steel offers a warranty against corrosion to perforation by weathering in the natural elements for a period of up to 30 years from the date of installation. BlueScope Steel also warrants that the paint system on COLORBOND® steel will not flake or peel due to natural weathering for a period of up to 20 years from the date of installation.

The 30 Year COLORBOND® steel for Roofing Warranty applies as follows:
- Installed pitch of the roof is equal to or greater than 5 degrees above the horizontal.
- The roof is fully lined and does not contain exposed eaves or other areas sheltered or unwashed by natural rainfall.
- The roof is located more than 5km from salt water.
- All fasteners used for fixing the product to be in accordance with BlueScope Steel recommendations and comply with Australian Standard AS3566: Class 4 where applicable.

Roofing made from COLORBOND® Stainless, Ultra or Metallic steel
BlueScope Steel offers a warranty period of up to 25 years from the date of installation against corrosion to perforation by weathering in the natural elements for COLORBOND® Stainless, Ultra or Metallic steel when used in roofing applications. BlueScope Steel also warrants that the paint system will not flake or peel due to natural weathering for a period of up to 20 years from the date of installation.

The 10 Year COLORBOND® Ultra steel for Roofing Warranty applies to COLORBOND® Ultra prepainted steel installed as roofing in severe marine environments. (Typically less than 100m from breaking surf). The additional terms/conditions are:
- Installed pitch of the roof is equal to or greater than 5 degrees above the horizontal.
- The roof is fully lined and does not contain exposed eaves or other areas sheltered or unwashed by natural rainfall.
- All fasteners used for fixing the Product to be in accordance with BlueScope Steel recommendations and comply with Australian Standard AS3566: Class 4 where applicable.
